The Acidic and Volatile images series started with a pair of images entitled The death of grandpa and a cycle of images entitled Acidic Portraits. Dealing with and releasing the anger and tension that has been building up inside me has always been difficult for me. Suppressing it causes reflux symptoms. Acid burns, stings, irritates, it is sharp, tight, nauseating. I always painted my acid paintings based on impulse. My aim was to visually release the tension that was about to explode inside me into my paintings. Technically I worked fast and dynamically, making small paper pictures. I treated my body's acidity with detoxifying cures, drinking extracts of various herbs. The preparation had a cleansing and diuretic effect, it ran through my body in a short time. The physical and mental relief that came with it left me with a soft, silky feeling, which is best described as volatile. It was as if I was sitting in the invisible cloud of a pleasant-smelling candle. A part of my being was always released from this overbearing pressure. My Volatile paintings explore this state of relief and calm.
